THE SUBLIME IN CONTEMPORARY ART

Patricia Esguerra is a Colombian artist, her work is a sublime example of abstract art, characterized by vibrant use of color and captivating texture. “Floating treasure” uses a predominantly blue and gold color palette. The background presents a light blue, which could suggest a sky or an aquatic landscape, against which golden organic shapes stand out that provide a touch of brightness and sophistication. The texture of the gold elements seems to be applied with a technique that gives them a metallic and reflective appearance, contrasting with the softness of the background color. At the bottom, there is a more saturated and rich section in golden tones, which could be interpreted as earth or sand, the artist manages to create a three-dimensional effect, making certain elements appear to protrude from the pictorial plane.  The composition presents an interesting visual harmony through the combination of these shapes and colors, inviting contemplation and personal interpretation of what the work represents.

Patricia Esguerra exhibits an intriguing combination of geometric and organic shapes that overlap harmoniously, with vertical lines suggesting upward movement and concentric circles serving as interesting focal points. All of this suggests the use of a mixed technique that combines acrylic paint with elements of assemblage, along with loose brushstrokes and streams of paint that heighten the feeling of spontaneity and movement. Altogether, the work emanates a sense of dynamism and vitality, being a testament to the artist’s talent for integrating color and texture in a way that invites the viewer to immerse themselves in its rich and multidimensional visual narrative.
