FOREST EVOLUTION MARIO VÉLEZ AT CASA ZIRIO, BOGOTÁ
Planetary systems to discover everything from a star to an atom. The ovoid sculptures represented are the protagonists of recent wars: military, paramilitary and guerrillas nature at war in Colombia.
Vélez invites to immerse in a disturbing forest composed of paintings, drawings, sculptures and an immersive soundscape about nature in the forest as the origin of abundance as an axis that connects heaven and earth, the territory of wars and armed conflict.
The message is to immerse ourselves in the forest that Mario Vélez proposes. Vélez has the influence of German expressionism; his interaction with abstractionism and his perspective on the sociocultural experience of environment. In his work there is an evident mediation between the body, territory, light and nature that translates into a flight through the art of painting of two-dimensional space.
Mario Vélez studied Fine Arts at the National University of Medellín and a Master’s Degree in painting at the Berlin University of the Arts. The above curatorship of María Elvira Ardila and Carlos Uribe
