CAF GALLERY PRESENTS: PORTRAITS IN TIME –  JOURNEY THROUGH LATIN AMERICAN SCULPTURE

CAF – Development Bank of Latin America is thrilled to unveil its latest exhibition, Portraits in Time: Trends in Latin American Sculpture. This extraordinary showcase features 22 renowned artists from eight Latin American countries, offering a vibrant exploration of the cultural roots and modern artistic movements that define the region’s rich sculptural heritage.

This exhibition is a celebration of Latin America’s artistic innovation, bringing together works from various times and places, each evoking the region’s unique identity. The carefully selected pieces highlight both the contemporary trends shaping the plastic arts and the historical influences that continue to inspire today’s sculptors

The Artists
The exhibition features notable artists from across Latin America, such as Lydia Azout and Edgar Negret from Colombia, José Luis Cuevas and Sebastián from Mexico, and Héctor Villalobos from Chile. Sculptors like Jorge Seguí from Argentina, Diego Alexandre Asi and Bolivar Gaudín from Uruguay, and Jorge Jiménez Deredia from Costa Rica further enrich this collective. Venezuelan talent is particularly well-represented, with works by Guillermo Abdala, Pedro Barreto, Lia Bermúdez, Francisco Martínez, and others, alongside Peruvian sculptor Joaquín Liébana. Together, these artists capture the essence of Latin American creativity, showcasing diverse techniques and philosophies through their sculptures.
