Edwin Mojica Born in 1958 in Bogotá, Colombia, graduated from the National University as an architect and has taken several art workshops. This is a time of change and the contemporary world would rather place emphasis on the younger generation. Latin artists have now become more exploratory and determined, trying to attune themselves to international trends as they are enjoying the benefits of artistic freedom of expression that bring along a powerful upsurge of new art forms while revitalizing traditions moving forward.
Mojica´s paintings have a magical quality; spontaneity, yet are the result of a very refined intuitive activity, he extraordinary manages the use of detail with exquisite color. The paintings are the inspiration of meditation and reflection. He expresses his internal freedom with independent abstractionism and minimal use of materials, which come about from a complex spiritual state during art creation. In the abstract paintings of the “Love” series, in one or two colors, he first reaches deeply into the pulse of traditional culture; and second, he searches for novel concepts and new expressions that can more intimately communicate his ideas.
Movement, action, and color create unity out of the cosmic chaos to express his inner feelings towards reality. His oil paintings display the unique characteristics of contemporary oil painting, from their concern with representation to the “idea-form” that is intimately associated with abstraction, from the abstractionism that draws on symbolic representation, to pure abstract works. However, his wide-ranging and complex reach has not positioned him to remain in a state clearly delineated. He has exhibits in Colombia.
